Your first sentence really gave me a chuckle. "We should wait for the perfect solution..." Typical of humanity to sit on their thumbs waiting. Happiness is a proactive condition. Create your own happiness! Don't sit idly waiting for hit to happen. When I retired from my career in 2010 I was fearful I would go mad from boredom. I feared "not being happy." So, I created mental characters and took to the computer keyboard. The fictitious folks in my books make me laugh. They make me happy. Readers tell me that my humor lightens their souls. By creating my own happiness I have passed the gift of joy on to them.

While I'm a big proponent for the Right to Bear Arms, there are any number of places that don't allow you to bear arms regardless of your permits--such as the courthouse and the courtroom. There are all kinds of questions concerning appropriateness, but basically it seems to me the community has an equal right to say "not here" in the case of an institution such as a school.

The right to bear arms in a basic American freedom. There is great controversy over the subject and I for one, do not own a gun, nor do I know how to use one. I have friends, however, who do own guns and sometimes when they have to check their commercial rental buildings at night, they "pack heat" for personal protection. An old mink rancher friend of mine always packed a gun in the glove box of his big truck while traveling across country. He was from Montana, so need I say more.
My next door neighbor has an arsenal in his house. He also has dead animal heads on many walls, but that's another story. I shy away from guns, but if there is ever another American Civil War I will be at one of my friends doors asking if I can either come in or buy a gun.

Back in my day, many days ago, when we drove around our rural neighborhood if a fruit tree went too many days without picking, my Dad would drive into the front yard of the tree owner and inquire if they wanted the fruit picked. We would take some fruit in payment for the labor and leave the rest for the home owner. They usually took us up on our offer. Free fruit always seems sweeter.

Internet sex: good grief. It reminds me of a time I was in Copenhagen at the convention center. I headed towards the lady's room door about the same time the male janitor pushed his cart that direction. I smiled and explained I wanted to use the room, figuring he would wait to clean until after I left the premises. No, he came right in there with me. I was somewhat taken aback by this and commented to him as such, while I proceeded to pee in the nearby stall. I said "In America this would not happen: a male and a female in the lady's room together." He said in his heavily accented Scandinavian English "Oh, you Americans, you have sex on the brain."

From one lazy cook to another: I call this one "Lazy Meatloaf". I was going to include it in my website and may get around to it someday. No hurry. Take some ground round and other stuff in the frig you want to get rid off (such as left over rice, dabs of cooked vegetables, stale bread). Mix well, add chopped onion, an egg and a bit of milk. OK, this is a no-brainer: you have made a meatloaf. The trick is you cook it in muffin tins under the broiler unit of the oven. It is ready in about 10 minutes. Left-overs freeze well too in the muffin tin, so you don't have dishes to clean up. If you are really lazy you can even eat it out of the muffin tin. Sometimes pulling the tin back and forth between everyone at the table can become a bit tedious, I find.
